Students of all ages! We have great ideas for kids parties and teen outings!  Have fun, Learn to cook, and Eat great food!  Price is per person and includes drinks and recipe cards. 

 

College or your own place is in your future, right? Pizza and other fast foods are expensive and can really pack on the weight.  Stay healthy, save your money and cook for yourself. So what if between you and your roommate you have one raggedy old frying pan and a pot? You’re a superhero!  We can teach you how to have a simple and economical pantry that focuses on protein, so you skip the Freshman Fifteen, and have fun with friends in the kitchen.

Prices are per person and include drinks and recipe cards.  Minimum: 6 students.

Learn how to shop for food, get the most good nutrition and fun for your money, and save time and money. We will stock a pantry and talk about balancing meals, making something from nothing and how to entertain friends.

ON THE BORDER

Ages 7-14

Southwest Golden Nugget Salad

There is a rainbow of colors in this fresh salad side dish. Black beans, red tomatoes, green chile peppers, yellow corn and more.

Cheese Empanadas

Mix up the dough and filling of Queso Fresco to make these tasty baked goodies - great for snack or even a light meal.

Guacamole

Make it chunky or smooth, and  have a choice of spices to play with and make it your own!

Ages 15 and up

2 Hours 

$50 pp.

You don’t need a lot of equipment, a big kitchen or a ton of time to eat well.  Learn to make nutritious and delicious food fast for meals, snacks or parties. All vegetarian, high in protein, fiber and taste. This class will teach you how to confidently make use of whatever variety of ingredients  is at hand or on sale.

Quiche or Frittata

A classic French one dish meal with many variations or a gluten free  Italian option, to use whatever is on sale or in your fridge.  
BONUS:  easy basic pastry recipe.

Salads

Beyond lettuce, there are salads made with leftover rice, quinoa, crunchy veggies and even bread!

Chicken Fingers

We don’t eat chicken feet, but chicken fingers are deeeee-licious! Slice, pound, and season chicken breast meat.  We’ll whip up barbeque sauce for dipping, too.

Carrot and Raisin Salad

Just like Grandmom made for me when I was a young-’un!

Apple Pie

A mini- pie, just right for you and a friend -- or maybe just for you! With some surprise ingredients and warm spices.

PART 2

Ages 15 and up

Learn knife skills and kitchen economics in this class. You’ll learn basics and a  bunch of variations that you can use.

Arroz con Pollo

Chicken and rice from Chiapas, Mexico. Easy, fast and delicious. Learn to stretch your food dollars by using different cuts of chicken and  gettin extra meals free.

Creative Salads

Lots of ways to prepare lots of different vegetables for sides and lunches to go.

Class 1  Proteins: Chicken w lemon sauce  (saute, pan sauce) 

Class 2  Grains: Rice Pilaf   (cooking rice) 

Class 3  Vegetables: Mixed Salad & Vinagrette Dressing  (knife skills ) 

 

Series 11

11   Proteins: Omelet,  Stuffed Eggs) (cooking eggs)

12   Pastry: (Apple-cinnamon Empanadas) (pastry making, fruit filling)

13  Vegetables: Veggie fritters  ( knife skills, pan frying)

 

Series 21

21 Proteins: Pasta & Bean Soup (knife skills, complete vegetarian proteins)

22 Avocado: Guacamole rollups, breakfast smoothie (nutrition, healthy snacks)

23 Grains: Tabbouleh  (knife skills, world cuisine)

Ages 7 - 14

series of 3 classes $75

Kids learn nutrition, cooking skills, kitchen math and science and explore a new ingredient and a recipe each week. Three series are offered on a rotating basis. Completing these series will build confidence and creativity in the kitchen prepare students for healthy eating, self-sufficiency, and ... let's be honest -- Popularity!
